ST. LOUIS NAACP

Fund for the Future

The Fund for the Future is the St. Louis City NAACP’s campaign to secure contributions and grants for general support of the operations and special strategic programs of the St. Louis City NAACP. Contributions and grants will enable the St. Louis City NAACP to continue its initiatives and programs that include: Eliminating Disparities in Health Care and Public Safety, Preserving and Expanding Economic Empowerment, Raising the Awareness of Civic Engagement, Providing Empowerment Opportunities for Youth, Public Safety and Criminal Justice, Expanding Membership, Preserving Climate Control and Promoting Equality in Education.

The National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP), the nation’s oldest, largest and most widely recognized grassroots-based civil rights organization, was founded in 1909 on the beliefs embodied in the Constitution of the United States of America.  The NAACP supports democracy, dignity and freedom and has been responsible for a number of victories in the struggle for justice and equality in America.  In 2013, the St. Louis City NAACP celebrated its Centennial Anniversary.

This is a proposal for a grant in the amount $30,000 to be used in general support of the St. Louis City NAACP.  As we strive to address civil rights challenges in the St. Louis community, we hope we can depend on your company to lock arms and work together with us to assure the American dream of prosperity for all St. Louis citizens.

THE NEED AND WHERE DOES YOUR GIFT GO?

Since the founding of the St. Louis City NAACP, it has been the talent and tenacity of NAACP members that have saved lives and changed many negative aspects of St. Louis society. From the ballot box to the boardroom, dedicated community leaders fought long and hard to ensure the voices of African-Americans in St. Louis would be heard.  These leaders helped to shape the programs of the St. Louis City NAACP and to maintain its status as a champion of social justice.

Securing grants enables the St. Louis City NAACP to continue its initiatives and program strategies.  Your gift will assist the NAACP in keeping open the door to opportunity.

ABOUT THE ST. LOUIS CITY NAACP

The NAACP today has more than 500,000 members and operates through more than 1,700 branches including 120 Youth and College Divisions.  Members of the NAACP, in keeping with the charge of NAACP founders, stand against all forms of injustice. When the St. Louis City NAACP was organized, there were only 10 branches of the NAACP in the nation.

▪The MISSION of the St. Louis City NAACP is to ensure the political, educational, social and economic equality of rights of all persons and to eliminate race-based discrimination.  The VISION of the St. Louis City NAACP is to ensure a society in which all individuals have equal rights without discrimination based on race.

The St. Louis City NAACP has undertaken an extensive and high-level strategic planning program that identified eight “Game Changers” that will shape our world in the months and years to come. These are the areas where the St. Louis City NAACP can have substantial impact; these are the issues that deserve immediate and thoughtful attention in order to fulfill a vision of a society in which all individuals have equal rights without discrimination based on race.
